The popularity of mixed martial arts has led to an increasing number of people being aware of Brazilian jiu jitsu, as it has become an increasingly popular sport. Although mixed martial artists do not wear them, Brazilian jiu jitsu gis have also increased in popularity, since you must wear one when partaking in a training course. If you plan to learn this growing sport, you must pick up a jiu jitsu gi for your training. In addition, if you watch any high-level jiu jitsu competitions, so you will see that all of the participants wear a gi of some sort.

One thing that you will learn is that Brazilian jiu jitsu gis are made to be extremely durable, as they have an important purpose during a match. In karate, the gi is just like an uniform, but a jiu jitsu gi has a functional purpose within the sport. Moves like the collar choke use the gi as a device, so you would not want to use anything that is less durable than a traditionally made gi.

You also would not want to wear a t-shirt as you train, as it would surely become ripped after just a few minutes on the mat.

A reason why you use Brazilian jiu jitsu gis while training is that the boasted is used for self-defense. In most self-defense situations, you will be wearing clothing and possibly a jacket, which might make it more difficult for you to defend yourself. By preparing while wearing a gi, you will be prepared for any situation in which an attack can use your clothing against you. Being prepared for any situation is one of the things that this sport preaches, so you will definitely be glad that you have trained in a gi.

Keep in mind that it is important for you to practice the sport without Brazilian jiu jitsu gis as well, since it provides you with a balance. If you only train with a jiu jitsu gi, you would not know what to do if you end up in a situation without one. Likewise, if you always train without a gi, you would not know what to do in a situation where you garbed is being used against you. In the terminate, you should learn both types of jiu jitsu in order to maximize your ability to defend yourself. Remember that you will not be wearing your gi if you are attacked on the street, so you will not be able to directly apply what you have learned, but can rather use it as a starting point of self-defense.

You can Brazilian jiu jitsu gis from a variety of unlike locations, so make sure that you explored them before getting started. A jiu jitsu gi is a vital piece of equipment for anyone learning this sport, so do sure that you find one that suits you. A richly quality gi is definitely to way to go, as it will ensure that you can learn all of the sport’s maneuvers without having your gi rip.

One of the most important things to learn in BJJ is breaking some ones posture. In Jiu Jitsu posture is king. If you cannot break you opponents posture then you won’t be doing much to him in terms of attacks. When you’re attempting to use an attacking closed guard then breaking his posture is essential. Your opponent is going to do everything in his power to keep his posture and try to keep a safe distance from you and by doing this it makes it easier for him to avoid submissions. For you to be effective you will need to break his posture and there are various ways you can do this. Some of the best ways include pulling down on his lapel, pulling his sleeves and drawing him on to you with the use of your legs. Below we will outline the best ways to break some ones posture in guard.

One of the first things you will notice when you have someone in your closed guard is that they will try to control you by gripping you by your GI most likely on your lapel and on your trousers. The idea behind this is that they can control your hips with the grip on your trousers and control you from sitting up with the grip on your lapel. If you allow your opponent to establish these grips then you’re making things so much harder for yourself because it’s harder to stop the grips than to break them. Stopping your opponent from getting these grips can be done in various ways and they include opening your GI out and by grip fighting.

As much as you try to stop your opponent establishing grips when in your guard there will be times when he will get the grips and you will need to know how to break his posture from this position. A great way to do this is by using his elbows to pull him forward. The way you do this is by taking an outside grip on his elbows and simultaneously opening out his elbows and drawing him with your legs. Another point to remember is that you should move your head to the side opposite to the side that you’re moving your opponent to, to avoid his head colliding with yours.

There will be times when your opponent will be stronger than you and certain techniques will be made harder because of the difference in strength. A great way to counter this difference in strength is to gain head control. This can be done by slipping one of your arms underneath one of his arms and then reaching round the back of his head and pulling him on to you. One other thing to consider is his other arm this can sometimes give you problems the best way to counter these problems before they happen is to use your free arm and to control his arm by gripping his sleeve. If your opponent is determined to keep his posture in your guard then it can get very difficult to break him down this is why you will need to know different techniques to achieve your goal.

As you progress in your BJJ you will not only want to survive you will want to attack and submit your opponent. A great way to do this from guard is to use the whizzer control. This is done by wrapping your arm around your opponents and then gripping his lapel. This is a great way to control your opponent and to also trap his arm and this position can then be used to setup various submissions including arm bars, triangles and omoplatas.

Gameness is a BJJ GI company that originated in Brazil and soon spread as a brand all over the world and can be seen being worn by Pros and amateurs alike in gyms and at competitions. Gameness GIs are made to a very high standard and they use some of the best materials including pearl weave cotton and also their very own platinum weave cotton. Gameness employ professional designers to brand their GIs so the designs and graphics used make their GIs some of the best looking GIs on the market. Gameness produces some very nice GIs and below we will discuss their top GIs.

The Gameness Elite is their flagship model and is one of the best BJJ GI available in the world today and features some very nice additions. The Elite GI jacket is made from high quality pearl weave cotton that is light in weight but also very strong and durable. A nice addition to the Elite jacket is a rash guard lining. As far as I know Gameness are were the first BJJ GI company to have a rash guard lining in their GIs and it’s a nice addition. It makes the GI very comfortable and helps prevent GI burns when you GI is rubbing on your skin. The GI jacket has branded patches on the shoulders, chest and back and also features branded tape inside the cuff of the sleeve and on the jacket skirt. The collar has a rubber insert that helps to keep the collars shape and also helps the GI dry faster. The trousers are made from rip stop cotton and are very light weight and the feature the games logo embroidered on the thigh and back of the lower leg. All in all the Gameness Elite is one of the best BJJ GI available but can be a bit expensive so if you can afford it then it’s definitely a GI worth considering.

The Gameness Platinum weave BJJ GI is one of the best tournament grade GIs in the world. The platinum weave is Gameness’s own style of weave and was developed just for this GI. It’s a lot like a pearl weave in that it’s strong and durable but it’s also been pre shrunk and had extra thick rows of stitching making it even stronger and less likely to suffer any kind of shrinkage after washing. Gameness added an extra thick collar to make it even harder for an opponent to choke you with any collar chokes. The trousers are made from 8oz cotton and are very comfortable to wear and they feature reinforced stitching on all the major stress points. If you like you’re GIs a little bit heavier than the standard GI and want a GI that’s going last you a long time then this is the GI for you.

The Gameness feather BJJ GI is a very light BJJ GI that is ideal for competition or for hot summer days. It’s made from 475 gram pearl weave cotton that is light weight but also very soft and supple making it very comfortable to wear. The GI is very light making it an ideal GI if you cut weight when you fight. The jacket is made from a single piece of material making it very strong and it features the gameness logo on the chest shoulders and on branded tape on the skirt. The collar is made from high quality rubber making the collar nice and stiff so it holds its shape after many washes. The trousers are made from military grade rip stop and feature reinforced knee area and reinforced stitching on all the major stress points. This BJJ GI is fully tournament legal making it the ideal GI for competitions but if like me you like to train in a light weight GI then it can also be used for every day training.

The Gameness pearl weave BJJ GI is a great all rounder that can be used for competitions or every day use. The GI jacket is made from 550 gram pearl weave cotton so is somewhere between a light weight GI and a heavy GI. This GI will last you an absolute lifetime because the pearl weave used on this GI is very durable. The collar is a stiff rubber collar that will hold its shape and because of the stiffness it also makes it hard for your opponent to choke you with collar chokes. The GI jacket has Gameness patches on the shoulders and chest and branded tape on the skirt. The trousers are made from very light rip stop cotton. This is one of most comfortable BJJ GIs I’ve ever tried and i would definitely recommend it.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be classified alongside the sports of Judo and Taekwondo, being a martial art and combat sport. As well as being used for the art of self defense, it is great in character building in the young person, giving them a focus and aim in life.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is said to have come about due to a large immigrant population of Japanese in Brazil, its’ invention being a relatively new one, in the twentieth century. It is derived form the Japanese martial art of Judo, and although is very similar in many aspects, ranked being gained by dans and belts, it sets itself aside from Judo by being a sport that is more focused on ground fighting.

The main focus of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the capability to grapple your opponent to the ground, locking them into a position from which they are unable to move, regardless of the weight of the opponents.

The Jiu Jitsu Gi is the formal providing used when training and fighting Jiu Jitsu.

Again, it is very similar to that of Judo, but the legs and arms are slightly less loose. Traditionally the Jiu Jitsu Gi must be warn for all training sessions, and although no Gi is allowed by some, when combat-ready in tournaments, it is compulsory.

Ranking in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, again follows a similar pattern to those of both Judo and Taekwondo, the black sung being the highest and much respected ranking. Depending on commitment levels, it can take up to or more than ten years to obtain the black belt. Bjj Belts are categorized into junior and senior, seniors starting at the age of 16.

Like its’ counterparts, Judo and Taekwondo, it is encouraged from a very early age, being both a healthy practice, as well as a method of learning both self defense and self discipline.

From its’ development in the early twentieth century, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has become a very popular and well practiced sport, holding many competitions worldwide, as well as at local levels.

The main techniques for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, that stand it apart from its’ ancestor Judo, are the techniques of joint locks, choke holds, and submission holds. These techniques show the individual that they do not need to be scared of an enemy or opponent who is bigger, or stronger than themselves, in one clean move, they can have their opponent immobilized on the ground.

It is important that all youngsters learn self defense in todays society, but also it is of expressed importance that their knowledge is not abused. In learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the individual also builds character and self control, making them a good rounded person, able to use their knowledge in the correct situations. It is often argued if the Brazilian art of Jiu Jitsu came from the Japanese art of judo, or that of Japanese Jiu Jitsu, but from either or both of the above, has developed a worldwide recognized martial art and combat sport.

Those living in Texas and its surroundings will benefit from these classes significantly. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offers more versatile benefits compared to other martial arts; it is the sole martial art that incorporates all areas of fighting, so that you don’t have any need to go for cross-training. No doubts, other martial arts such as Boxing, Kung Fu, Karate and Tae Kwon Do are great martial arts, especially when you want to specialize in a particular aspect such as the ones mentioned. However, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu presents a better solution for putting up a defense against striking attacks while on the ground or while standing – it also incorporates all techniques of grappling attacks in addition. As contests such as Ultimate Fighting Championship gets more popular, you will find some people giving names like Kickboxing or Wrestling to their styles, however, they must and will augment their training with BJJ. Until date, you will still find some fighters going into the cage with BJJ as the only training technique for guaranteed victories. BJJ Classes in Fort Worth Texas provide great opportunity for training adequately in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and emerging victorious eventually. BJJ class is also a great way to keep fit and stay healthy. BJJ is Becoming Increasingly Recognized in MilitaryFor the military personnel, knowledge of martial arts such as BJJ is not optional. Instead, it is either you acquire the skills or make yourself vulnerable to the enemy. As a result, the military niche sees martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as something more than a sportive event or mere technique for trimming excess weight and staying fit. Thus, using a scientific technique, elimination process, as well as trial and error approach, U.S Army selected BJJ as the core of their combative program. This important step was integrated onto the Army Combatives Manual in 2002 by SFC Matthew Larson. Thus, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has became the backbone for the entire manual (FM 3-25.150). This has become a norm till date; so that you can hardly find any elite Military or Law Enforcement agency that leaves off BJJ as a critical aspect of their doctrine. So, both new intakes and old military personnel can embark on BJJ training. BJJ Classes in Fort Worth Texas is well structured to meet any need for BJJ martial art.
People who know about martial arts they must know about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. From martial art, now it has become popular as a sport also. Those who don’t dare to involve themselves in it can take its pleasure just by watching it. Because of the popularity of Brazilian jiu jitsu, its uniform Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi is also becoming famous among all. Many few people are familiar with Bjj Gi. In the Bjj Gi, Bjj is a martial art of Japan. Everyone is familiar with it and no need to explain it deeply and Gi means clothing So we can say that Bjj Gi is the clothes used to wear while taking training Bjj.

It is not necessary to wear it but even after that, it must be worn especially at the time of practice. Because at the time of practice you are trained to be ready to fight in any situation and in all the situations you don’t have all the required weapons for it. You should practice without it also in order to protect yourself in all situations. As I told you that it is mainly to prepare you, and this is the reason experts generally don’t use it.

Many people feel nervous when they go to take its training, but if you have purchased Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi. As it will make you feel comfortable but be sure that you don’t have spend much amount on your first Bjj Gi. In many shops you can get it at very affordable prices. Don’t forget to have Bjj belts also.

Perfect Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi should have features like durability, comfort, elegant. So that you can move easily without any effort otherwise your Gi will not let you take right moves to defeat opponent. And if it is light in weight then nothing can be better than this. Its jacket should be made using single pearl-weave fabric which should be soft. If your jacket has rubber lapel coating then it will dry fast. And if you want to use it for long time then it must be stitched three times. Make it a habit to wash it regularly and to keep it clean and after washing dry it in ventilated area.

If you are thinking that you have to bother a lot in find that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi in which you can get all the above mentioned qualities. Then no need to bother your search for best Bjj Gi can end at K2 fight gear.

One of the form of Judo of Japan is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is almost incomplete without Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi. The main is purpose to use it while training is to make the candidate perfect for all unseen and immediate situations.

Article by Shawn

It is absolutely necessary that you have to care more for the Bjj Gi. It has altogether different tips as far as the type of washing is concerned. The kind of washing the Bjj Gi requires is a lot different from what the other types of wear need. Usually the manufacturers of the Bjj gear also recommend the method of washing too. They do not recommend the use of bleach in the washing of your Bjj Gi. Your gear is safe once you follow the directions given by the manufacturer regarding the washing procedure.

You need to understand that washing your Bjj Gi needs more attention than washing the gear of any other martial art in the sense that Bjj involves rigorous grappling and causes you to sweat more too. This is the reason why the Bjj Gi is made of a thick material. It has to be durable after all in addition to being thick. It is interesting to note that you get varieties of lightweight Bjj kimonos in the sporting goods shops nowadays. This is because of the fact that they are durable too. You can be sure that the new types of lightweight Bjj Gi weigh just about 4 lbs and are easy to wash and are long-lasting too. The lightweight Bjj Gi is more comfortable on the mats too while you roll during the play.

It is advisable to wash your Bjj Gi every time you train or play. In fact daily washing is highly recommended in case you attend training sessions on a daily basis. Do your best not to wear the same Bjj Gi if you train twice a day. Do not dump your washer with more that two lightweight Bjj Gis at a time. This is to ensure that your washer is not overloaded. It is true that an overloaded washer does not perform its duty to its potential. Since the manufacturers do not recommend the use of bleach in the process of washing, you can use vinegar while washing your Bjj Gi. Vinegar has the power to kill odors without damaging the material. Your Bjj Gi fabric is safe when you use vinegar. The same is not guaranteed while using bleach.

Line drying is highly recommended in sunny places because the Sun acts directly on the bacteria to remove them. Take care to use your Bjj Gi only when it gets dried after a thorough wash. Never wear your Bjj Gi when it is wet or not dried properly. Line drying always needs a plenty of time and hence allow your Bjj Gi to dry by giving it sufficient time under the Sun because the more it is wet the more it gives room for bacteria to grow and to cause funk. It is equally true that washing your Bjj Gi in cold water would do a world of good to the life of the gear.
